New Year, Same Seeds of Literacy

Happy New Year and to our students and tutors, welcome back to school at Seeds of Literacy!

This past year has been an exciting transitional year for Seeds of Literacy, finding Seeds in a much different place then in January 2019. This difference is a good thing that will hopefully lead Seeds to even greater heights and further success for the students we serve.

Last year saw the return of state funding to Seeds of Literacy after the Ohio legislature cut funding in 2018. As we’ve said before, we’re happy to report we did not cut any programing in that time and we’re grateful for the support we received when we were without state funding and the advocacy on our behalf to restore funding. We look forward to continuing to grow Seeds of Literacy in 2020.

In 2019, we began a pilot program for GED© classes taught in Spanish and we will continue that program in 2020. We also started an beginning readers’ program, assisting those who would be turned away by most other adult education programs. We celebrated the fifth anniversary of our Kinsman Road location, known as Seeds East and we expanded our offices at our W. 25th Street location, Seeds West.

Seeds of Literacy remains committed to the same award-winning, one-to-one tutoring model with flexible schedules that has served our students so well for more than 20 years. While some aspects of our organization may change, we have no intention of changing our model, though we’re always looking for areas where we can better serve our students.

From all of the staff here at Seeds of Literacy, happy new year and we welcome you to join us for what should be an exciting 2020.
