How To Enroll At Seeds During COVID-19
Adult Basic Ed: Free online tutoring for GED®, HiSET®
Registration. Orientation. Enrollment.
At Seeds, those words essentially mean the same thing – to get you into the FREE tutoring program and on the path to earning your high school equivalency (GED® or HiSET®).
During COVID-19, we’ve had to close our classrooms. Fortunately, tutoring continues remotely by phone and video conference. But if the classrooms are closed, is Seeds of Literacy still accepting students?
YES. YOU CAN BECOME A STUDENT AT SEEDS OF LITERACY – EVEN DURING OUR COVID-19 CLOSURE. It’s still as easy as ever to start your high school equivalency journey at Seeds.
PLEASE NOTE: OUR PROCESS HAS CHANGED FOR 2021. If you completed the Registration form prior to January 18, 2021, you may be asked to complete it again.
If you complete the Registration form BEFORE midnight on Sundays, you will receive a link to Orientation on Monday at noon EST in time to attend 1pm EST or 6pm EST.
If you complete Registration form ON Monday, you will NOT receive a link to orientation until the FOLLOWING Monday at noon EST.
The Monday AFTER you complete the Registration form, you will receive an email at noon EST. This email will contain a link to join us for orientation at 1pm or 6pm EST.
You choose the time that works best for you.
Pick the time that works best for you and then join the video conference from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Join the meeting at the time you selected.
During the videoconference, we will tell you about Seeds of Literacy. We’ll cover what makes Seeds unique, as well as how we have had to adapt to our program during the pandemic. Then we’ll tell you how to access our tele-tutoring and video tutoring offerings.
There are two short, simple pre-assignments you need to take to help us determine what coursework to give you. You’ll learn about them during our 1-hour orientation.
- FLUENCY: You will be asked to read out loud for 60 seconds with a tutor.. That’s all Seeds needs to determine your reading level.
- MATH: If you have not already passed the Math GED test, a staff member will email you a 35-question math assignment to determine your math level.
You will talk with us about how to start FREE tutoring.
Once you’ve completed these 5 steps, you are now a Virtual Student at Seeds of Literacy! You can participate in as many tutoring sessions as you’d like, Monday through Thursday, or practice on your own by watching one of our recorded lessons.
