Dee Jones - volunteers

Every Wednesday night at Seeds of Literacy, you can find Dee Jones busy at a computer, entering important information into our database. Dee has volunteered with Seeds since the fall of 2011, helping to enter new student registrations. “I like to help, especially for something like Seeds of Literacy,” Dee says about volunteering. “It feels good to be involved in something like this.”

For Dee, entering as many as 36 registrations — the weekly cap for new students – in around two hours is an easy challenge. Her hands fly across the keyboard with lightning speed as she enters pages of student information. This makes her a great asset to Seeds of Literacy, since our busy program entails lots of registrations, attendance, and achievements coming in daily. Dee enjoys the experience. “I like the environment and the people. It’s a great place, and the people are really nice here.” She also appreciates that she can contribute to Seeds of Literacy’s mission to eradicate poverty through literacy. “[Seeds] is a very giving thing,” Dee says. “And it’s free to students. It definitely provides a great service.”
