Sowing Seeds of Hope Brunch and Auction

Seeds of Literacy is getting ready to host its 11th annual benefit brunch and silent auction! Sowing Seeds of Hope will be held Sunday, October 16th, 2011 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1100 Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland. Guests at the fundraiser will enjoy a delicious brunch buffet and have the opportunity to bid on gift items donated for the auction, with all proceeds going to support Seeds of Literacy’s vital mission. Auction items from previous years have included vacation getaways, handcrafted art, and restaurant and spa gift certificates. Gift baskets will also be raffled off to raise money at Seeds of Literacy’s biggest fundraiser of the year!

Enact Change in Your City: Become a Tutor with Seeds of Literacy

When a staggering 69% of Cleveland residents are functionally illiterate, the problem of adult illiteracy may seem insurmountable. But you can make a difference in your community by positively impacting the lives of these adults as a tutor for Seeds of Literacy, a nonprofit organization offering free GED preparation and adult basic education for people in Cuyahoga County. Our tutors work one-on-one with students to help improve their reading, writing, and math skills and to ecourage students to develop positive attitudes towards learning.
Seeds of Literacy will hold its fall tutor trainings on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 from 9 am to 2 pm, and on Saturday, October 8th, 2011 from 9 am to 2 pm. Trainings are held at the Seeds Resource Center located at 3104 W. 25th Street, 3rd Floor, Cleveland, OH 44109.
