Strike Out Illiteracy Bowl-a-thon

May 15, 2012

A local nonprofit is getting ready to enjoy another fun night out at the lanes, all to help knock down illiteracy rates in Cleveland.

Seeds of Literacy will hold its 4th annual “Strike Out Illiteracy” bowl-a-thon fundraiser on Saturday, May 19 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Fairview Lanes. Seeds of Literacy offers free GED preparation and basic education to adults in the Cleveland area.

By providing personalized education, Seeds of Literacy empowers adults and enables them to break away from illiteracy and, in turn, poverty. “As a non-profit, we rely fully on donations and fundraisers to help us bring education to the adults in our community,“ says Seeds of Literacy’s Executive Director Bonnie Entler. “Our annual bowl-a-thon is a fun way to raise the funds vital to our program.“ Tickets for the event are $30 each and include bowling, shoe rental, and two drink tickets good for soft drinks or beer. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, with half of the money raised going to one lucky winner.

“Strike Out Illiteracy” will be held at Fairview Lanes, located at 21847 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, OH 44126. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call Kerry Klein at 216.661.7950.
