Strike Out Illiteracy! Fairview Lanes May 29, 2009
May 4, 2009
Seeds of Literacy will hold its first Bowl-A-Thon on May 29, 2009 from 8 - 11 pm at Fairview Lanes, 21847 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, Ohio. Three hours of non-competitive bowling, shoe rental, food, event t-shirt, music and door prizes promise an evening of good fun for a good cause. Cash bar available. Cost is $25 per person plus pledges. All proceeds benefit Seeds of Literacy, a nonprofit organization providing free, one-to-one tutoring in basic education and GED testing to adults in Cuyahoga County. Seeds has student retention and graduation rates that are twice the national average and is the only adult literacy program in the county to be nationally accredited by ProLiteracy America.
“This fun evening will help support our students,” states Bonnie Entler, Executive Director of Seeds of Literacy. “Our enrollment has increased dramatically since January and we rely on donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations, as well as on more than 200 volunteer tutors, to help over 850 students a year.”
Participation is simple: register by May 22, 2009 and receive a pledge sheet. Donors pledge a fixed amount to Seeds that is tax deductible (no minimum donation amount). Pledges are collected when the donor signs the pledge sheet and all donations are turned in at the event.
Event sponsors include Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP and Ernst & Young.
